Today was our last day at our site. It went so smoothly, the girls that ended up coming were so well behaved and followed our directions with ease. These girls demonstrated great listening and were very interactive with the activities we brought for them to do. Today we covered two topics. The first topic was about hygiene, and the girls had multiple worksheets to fill out. The first was about what they use to keep themselves clean and why. All of the girls gave great and diverse answers. Next they were given a game worksheet about what they would bring with them on a desert island for hygiene. The girls liked that one and had some fun answers. Next they filled out a true or false worksheets about hygiene and all of them did great and only answered one answer incorrectly out of 10 questions. During the next part of the session we discussed nutrition. A poster about My Plate was brought in and the girls got to make their own plates, listing their favorite foods from the four food groups. The girls each got to read aloud what they wrote on their plates and we shared some of our favorites. The four food groups were explained and then we discussed some of their favorite dishes from other cultures. The girls mentioned puertorican dishes, asain dishes, sushi, and food from Uruguay. They had fun sharing what their favorite meals were and making the plates. Overall the girls seemed to have fun with this program and learned some valuable information from our time with them. It was a pleasure to work with them and we hope they continue on with the Smart Girls Program.
